   The two basic wine regions are the Old World and the New World. The main regions of Old World wine are:

France, Germany, Italy, and Spain

   These are the countries with the longest histories of wine production, and are known for some of the best wines in the world.

   The main areas the New World of wine consists of are:

Australia, Chile, Argentina, and the U.S.
